PURPOSE
The Auto Electrician
is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical
wiring, components, and systems in company vehicles, heavy-duty machinery, and
mobile equipment. The role ensures that all electrical faults are diagnosed and
resolved promptly to guarantee operational efficiency and equipment
reliability.
THE JOB
- Diagnose
electrical issues in vehicles and equipment using appropriate testing devices.
- Install
and repair wiring, lighting systems, ignition systems, alternators, and
starters.
- Inspect
and test electrical components such as circuits, sensors, and batteries.
- Perform
preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicle electrical systems.
- Read and
interpret electrical wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Maintain
records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure
compliance with company safety policies and standard operating procedures.
- Support
other workshop team members in general repair and maintenance activities.
- Report
major faults, safety risks, or equipment failures to the Workshop Supervisor
promptly.
- Keep tools
and equipment in good working condition and maintain a clean work environment.
THE PERSON MUST
- Have sound knowledge of
automotive electrical systems, components, and diagnostics.
- Be skilled in the installation,
maintenance, and repair of wiring, lighting, and electronic control units.
- Demonstrate proficiency in
using diagnostic tools and electrical testing equipment.
- Possess good problem-solving
abilities and attention to detail in identifying faults accurately.
- Be able to read and interpret
electrical diagrams and technical manuals.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 O’ level Credits including English &
Mathematics in not more than two sittings/Technical qualifications.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years’ cognate
experience.
