PURPOSE
Direct the
General Ledger and Financial Reporting operations for the Food and Sugar
Verticals, leading a team of GL Managers to deliver timely month-end closes and
impeccable year-end audits. This role is pivotal in ensuring absolute IFRS
compliance and data integrity across general ledgers, intercompany accounts,
and fixed assets (CWIP).
THE JOB
- Lead
and manage the month-end close calendar across Food and Sugar Vertical
entities, ensuring delivery within approved timelines (3working days).
- Champion a high-standard balance sheet
reconciliation reviews, to ensure 100% completion of timely, high-quality
reconciliations with zero long-standing reconciling items and full
substantiation of all accounts.
- Maintain
full visibility and control over prepayments, accruals, provisions, and other
significant Financial Statements Line Items, clearly highlighting risks and
opportunities for strategic decision making.
- Direct and oversee the interim and
year-end audit process, ensuring strict adherence to audit timelines and
achieving zero post-closing adjustments through impeccable financial accuracy
and robust internal controls.
- Lead
the preparation of, and
the timely filing of quarterly and year-end financial statements and
consolidation for all the entities in Food and Sugar Verticals ensuring full compliance with statutory
reporting requirements for a seamless, board-ready close
THE PERSON MUST HAVE
- Have extensive experience in general ledger
management, overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, journal entries,
reconciliations, and financial reporting in a structured corporate environment.
- Possess strong technical accounting knowledge,
including IFRS, chart of accounts management, and the ability to review and
approve complex accounting entries, , ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely
completion of all general ledger activities.
- Provide
leadership and strategic mentorship to a team of General Ledger Managers,
fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical accounting
excellence across the organization.
- Demonstrate
expert-level proficiency in ERP systems and advanced financial reporting tools
to drive impeccable ledger control, insightful variance analysis, and complex
group consolidations
- Have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder
management skills to partner with internal and external stakeholders, resolve
discrepancies, and support strategic financial decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
- First degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or
a related field
- Added advantage: Masters in Business
Administration/Finance
EXPERIENCE
- 8–10 years relevant experience in accounting and
financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and internal controls.
- ACA, ACCA .
