PURPOSE
The Air Conditioning Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of all refrigeration, air conditioning and HVAC systems across the factory and buildings, to support optimal temperature and humidity control, staff comfort, food safety, and compliance with HSE and environmental standards.
THE JOB
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspection and cleaning of refrigeration, air conditioning and HVAC systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, filters, valves, refrigerant lines and control components.
- Diagnose and repair faults on refrigeration systems, ventilation equipment and air conditioning units to minimize downtime in a continuous production environment.
- Monitor and maintain specified temperature and humidity conditions in production areas, control rooms, offices and other critical spaces in line with food safety, HSE and operational requirements.
- Troubleshoot basic electrical and mechanical faults associated with refrigeration and HVAC systems in collaboration with electrical and mechanical maintenance teams.
- Monitor refrigerant and oil levels and system pressures; carry out leak detection, evacuation, recovery and refrigerant charging in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Conduct daily and weekly checks on cooling systems and respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency call outs to restore systems and prevent production or quality losses.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports and work orders for all refrigeration and HVAC activities.
THE PERSON MUST
- Possess basic practical knowledge of refrigeration, air conditioning, and HVAC systems, including split, window, standing, package, and industrial units.
- Demonstrate understanding of preventive maintenance activities for refrigeration and AC equipment such as cleaning, inspection, lubrication, and basic adjustments.
- Be able to support fault diagnosis and repairs on refrigeration, and air‑conditioning systems .
- Be well organized and capable of responding to breakdowns in a critical production environment
QUALIFICATION
- 5 O’Level credits, including Mathematics and English.
- NABTEB / City & Guilds (C&G) Technical in Electrical or related discipline.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years as a Refrigeration/AC Technician within a manufacturing or related industrial environment.
