PURPOSE
To repair damaged vehicle body panels and restore trucks and
fleet vehicles to their original condition by reshaping, replacing, aligning,
and refinishing metal components to ensure safety, functionality, and
appearance.
THE JOB
- Assess
vehicle body damage and determine the appropriate repair methods and materials
required.
- Remove
damaged panels, parts, and components using hand and power tools.
- Repair
dents, bends, and structural damage through hammering, heating, cutting, and
reshaping techniques.
- Align
and refit body panels to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Replace
severely damaged panels and structural components where repairs are not
feasible.
- Use
welding equipment to repair, fabricate, and install body panels and related
parts.
- Apply
body fillers, sand surfaces, and prepare vehicles for painting and refinishing.
- Inspect
completed repairs to ensure quality, durability, and compliance with workshop
standards.
- Work
closely with spray painters, mechanics, and other workshop personnel to complete
vehicle restoration projects.
- Maintain
tools, equipment, and a clean work area while adhering to workplace health and
safety procedures.
THE
PERSON MUST
- Possess
strong panel beating, metal fabrication, and vehicle body repair skills.
- Be
able to use welding equipment, body repair tools, and measuring equipment
safely and effectively.
- Demonstrate
attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Be
physically fit and able to work safely in a busy workshop environment with
heavy tools and equipment.
QUALIFICATION
- Minimum
of five (5) O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics in not
more than two sittings.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum
of two years' experience in panel beating, vehicle body repair, or truck
maintenance.
