PURPOSE
To carry out the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of
diesel-powered trucks, trailers, tractors, heavy-duty equipment, pneumatic and
hydraulic systems, ensuring maximum vehicle availability, reliability, and
operational efficiency.
THE JOB
- Diagnose,
troubleshoot, and repair faults on diesel engines, transmissions, and related
vehicle systems.
- Carry
out preventive and corrective maintenance on tractors, trailers, heavy-duty
trucks, and earth-moving equipment.
- Perform
repairs on pneumatic, hydraulic, and turbocharged engine systems to manufacturer
standards.
- Respond
to and recover breakdown vehicles to minimize operational downtime.
- Conduct
routine inspections and identify potential mechanical issues before they result
in equipment failure.
- Ensure
all repairs are completed within approved timelines and accurately record
repair activities.
- Test
vehicles and equipment after repairs to confirm functionality, safety, and
performance standards.
- Maintain
accurate maintenance records, service reports, and equipment history.
- Ensure
compliance with workshop safety procedures, environmental standards, and
quality requirements.
THE
PERSON MUST
- Possess
strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on diesel trucks and heavy-duty
equipment.
- Demonstrate
practical knowledge of diesel engines, transmission systems, hydraulic systems,
and pneumatic systems.
- Have
the ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergency
breakdown situations.
- Be
safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering quality repairs.
QUALIFICATION
- Minimum
of five (5) O'Level credits including English Language and Mathematics in not
more than two sittings.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum
of 5 years' experience in diesel truck maintenance and repair.
- Proven
experience in servicing heavy-duty trucks, trailers, tractors, and related
equipment.
