PURPOSE
To carry out the inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement
of tyres on heavy-duty trucks and trailers, ensuring optimal tyre performance,
vehicle safety, and operational efficiency.
THE JOB
- Perform
routine inspections of truck and trailer tyres to identify wear, damage, and
maintenance requirements.
- Repair
punctured, damaged, or defective tyres using approved vulcanizing techniques
and equipment.
- Install
new tyre and replace worn-out or unserviceable tyres on heavy-duty vehicles.
- Patch,
inflate, balance, and gauge tyres to ensure they meet operational and safety
standards.
- Monitor
tyre conditions and recommend preventive maintenance actions to maximize tyre
lifespan.
- Ensure
all fleet tyres are maintained in accordance with company and industry safety
standards.
- Support
tyre rotation, wheel alignment, and other tyre-related maintenance activities.
- Maintain
accurate records of tyre repairs, replacements, and consumed materials.
- Communicate
tyre maintenance requirements and vehicle tyre conditions to drivers and
relevant workshop personnel.
- Adhere
to workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures while carrying out
tyre maintenance and repair activities.
THE
PERSON MUST
- Possess
strong practical knowledge of tyre maintenance, repair, and replacement for
heavy-duty vehicles.
- Demonstrate
the ability to identify tyre defects and recommend appropriate corrective
actions.
- Have
a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and operational excellence.
- Be
physically fit and capable of working in a demanding workshop environment.
QUALIFICATION
- Minimum
of five (5) O'Level credits including English Language and Mathematics in not
more than two sittings.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum
of 5 years' experience as a Vulcanizer, preferably within a fleet, transport,
logistics, or heavy-duty vehicle environment.
