PURPOSE
To support sensory evaluation activities used to assess the taste, aroma, texture, appearance, and overall quality of products.
THE JOB
Prepare and present product samples for sensory evaluations in line with approved procedures.
Assist in organizing and coordinating sensory panel sessions, including trained panels and consumer testing activities.
Accurately record panelists' responses and maintain detailed sensory evaluation records.
Ensure sensory testing environments are clean, controlled, and free from bias or contamination.
Label, code, and randomize samples to facilitate blind testing and maintain result integrity.
Support data entry, collation, and basic analysis of sensory evaluation results.
Maintain inventory of sensory materials, equipment, and consumables.
Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and quality management standards at all times.
Support the development and continuous improvement of sensory evaluation methods and procedures.
Assist in the training and calibration of sensory panelists.
Collaborate with Product Development, Quality Assurance, Production, and Marketing teams to support product innovation and quality improvement initiatives.
Support benchmarking studies, shelf-life evaluations, and new product development projects
THE PERSON MUST
Have a strong interest in food quality, sensory science, and consumer preferences.
Possess good observational skills with the ability to identify subtle differences in taste, aroma, texture, and appearance.
Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
Have basic knowledge of sensory evaluation techniques and testing methodologies
QUALIFICATION
National Diploma in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 1 year cognate experience.
