PURPOSE
To supervise and coordinate field operations within an
assigned farm area, ensuring optimal crop performance, efficient utilization of
labour and resources, compliance with agronomic standards, and achievement of
productivity, quality, cost, and safety targets.
THE JOB
- Support the Agric Manager in organizing and
coordinating seasonal labour requirements for crop maintenance, irrigation, and
other farm activities.
- Ensure compliance with company mustering
procedures, attendance processes, and operational standards.
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly
field activity plans covering crop maintenance, irrigation, spraying,
fertigation, and related operations.
- Monitor and supervise crop maintenance and irrigation
activities to ensure timely and effective execution.
- Oversee minor irrigation system maintenance and
promptly escalate issues affecting canals, pipes, pivots, and other irrigation
infrastructure.
- Manage and account for irrigation materials and
provide status reports as required during pre-harvest and post-harvest
activities.
- Coordinate mechanical crop maintenance
activities and liaise with relevant teams to ensure availability and effective
use of farm machinery.
- Monitor machine productivity and performance,
reporting breakdowns and operational concerns to management.
THE
PERSON MUST
- Possess strong supervisory and people management
skills with the ability to lead large field teams effectively.
- Demonstrate practical knowledge of crop
production and farm operations.
- Have experience coordinating labour,
agricultural inputs, irrigation, and mechanized farming activities.
QUALIFICATION
- B.Sc. or HND in Agriculture, Crop Production.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of five (5) years' relevant agricultural
field operations,
Experience in sugarcane production, plantation
agriculture, irrigation management, crop maintenance, or large-scale commercial
farming will be an added advantage.
