PURPOSE
A Power Plant Electrical Technician will undertake a
variety of tasks relating to installation and maintenance of electrical
infrastructures in efficient ways to improve plant availability and sustain
equipment reliability.
THE JOB
- Perform
preventive maintenance and repairs on all switchgear control circuits and
generators in compliance with procedures and OEM (Original Equipment
Manufacturer) recommendations.
- Repair
and maintain electrical equipment in generating stations, conducting tests on
defective equipment to identify malfunctions or failure.
- Replace
and repair equipment such as relays, switches, and indicating and recording
instruments to ensure continuous operation.
- Conduct
detailed Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on failed equipment or processes
and implement preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
- Monitor
equipment loading and operate power generation systems efficiently and
cost-effectively.
- Ensure
compliance with all health and safety regulations in line with FMN/Honeywell
safety policies.
- Prepare
detailed reports and documentation to align with Operational Excellence (OPEX)
initiatives.
THE PERSON
MUST
- Have excellent verbal and written
communication skills.
- Proven knowledge of how to work with
electrical systems and use various hand tools (e.g. wire strippers and
multimeter)
- Have sound troubleshooting knowledge
and skills with the ability to find and solve problems quickly.
- Possess strong analytical and
problem-solving skills.
- Be able to thrive in a collaborative,
fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATION
- 5
O’ level credits including Mathematics & English in not more than 2
sittings/NABTEB/ Trade test.
- Technical
Certificate is an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE
- 2 years’ cognate experience.
